HISTORY OF THE L&R EMU
FARM
We started this wonderful adventure about ten years ago.
We discovered this beautiful bird, the emu, while watching the
agricultural program on television: "La semaine verte", and we fell in
love instantly. The emu is a flightless bird which is part of the
ratite family along with the ostrich, rhea, cassowary and kiwi. |

 |
We purchased Nat and Pat,
which, since then produce between 25 and 35 eggs a year. The eggs
hatch in our incubator and our hatchery after about 50 days.
When they reach
approximatly 2 years of age, the emus are sent to be butchered. The
emu meat is considered a red meat without cholesterol, with a taste
close to filet mignon or horse meat. Different cuts are available:
filets, steaks, cubes and ground.
We recuperate the fat
from the bird's back and make the oil that is the base of our product
line: PRELISE PRODUCTS |
|
Emu oil has anti-inflamatory,
moisturizing, antibacterial properties and is allergy-free. It
contains natural collagen and cortisane as well as Omega 3, 6 and 9.
Furthermore, emu oil penetrates the skin quickly and deeply without
leaving a greasy residue.
Emu oil allows us to
make soap, shampoo, conditioner, hand cream, shower gel and body
lotion... all made with natural 100% pure emu oil ! |

In order to introduce the
emu and the different products we make from its oil, we distribute our
products all year round in health stores, drug stores, beauty clinics
and fairs in different parts of Quebec. We are open to visitors with
appointments.
We look forward to have the pleasure of meeting you in order to show
you our passionate work and the making of the products we love.
Respectfully yours, Lise
and René Peterson, emu breeders and owners of Prelise Products. |
